This blog is the new home of The Mad Farmer Liberation Front. Within you'll find lots of References to Retrotech (mainly of the typewriter variety) as well as Whimsical and Amateurish Poetry and the occasional Commentary on Whatever I'm Thinking About at the Moment.
Yeah, I'd say the Type Bar box wins the photo shoot. Though...I'm also intrigued by the Colitho logo. Doesn't shout "silk" to me, so it makes for an interesting juxtaposition...
Pretty neat! My sister-in-law used to host exchange students too. They were nice. The ribbon boxes are cool. I might have gone for the simplex if it was cheap enough. nice post all around.
The Typebar ribbons, though, were a big disappointment. I bought an entire box of them - 12 or 16 ribbons, I forget now - all with the original ribbons still wrapped up. They're for Smith-Corona, the ebay ad said. Sadly, they were for Smith-Corona ADDING MACHINES. So, they're tiny spools, with way too much ink. Nice boxes, though. (I got the Colitho ones from the same seller - these are for Olivetti machines, and they came in the original box, with each ribbon wrapped up in a star-spangled bit of foil. Dried out, but they look terrific.
Oh, I *love* that "Type Bar Ribbon" box. very swank!
